Chiếc xe được xuất phát từ huyện Krông Păc đi về TP.HCM. Hiện trường cho thấy, khi đến địa điểm bị tai nạn, chiếc xe này đã lao vào làm đứt khoảng 20 mét lan can cầu rồi bị rơi xuống sông Sêrêpôk có độ cao chừng 18 mét. Những người tham gia cứu nạn đầu tiên cho biết do chiếc xe bị bẹp, lại bị ngập dưới khoảng 1 mét nước (chủ yếu ở phần đầu) nên việc cứu người rất khó khăn. Đến hơn 4 giờ 30 phút sáng nay, 18.5, chiếc xe bị nạn đã được đưa lên bờ. Hàng trăm cán bộ chiến sỹ cảnh sát đã được điều động ngay trong đêm để để bảo vệ và cứu hộ. Quốc lộ 14 qua đoạn này ách tắc hoàn toàn, đến sáng nay mới thông suốt.
