A poem I wrote to highlight the difference between Jesus and false religion. In the scriptures Jesus received the most opposition from the most religious people of his day. At it's core Jesus' gospel and the good news of the Cross is in pure opposition to self-righteousness/self-justification. Religion is man centered, Jesus is God-centered. This poem highlights my journey to discover this truth. Religion either ends in pride or despair. Pride because you make a list and can do it and act better than everyone, or despair because you can't do your own list of rules and feel "not good enough" for God. With Jesus though you have humble confident joy because He represents you, you don't represent yourself and His sacrifice is perfect putting us in perfect standing with God the Father. In response to Kony 2012 video made by InvisibleChildren, I do not think the LRA or Kony is good and I do not support them. I do believe justice should be served in that case. However, I do not believe U.S. Military intervention is necessary and will cause more harm than good. I believe in the connection between oil & AFRICOM as well as trade. I believe the African governments have the power and ability to find Kony and arrest him on their own as well as disarm the LRA. I am simply promoting the education one should do before they believe everything they see. The Kony 2012 Video is not the only information you should rely on. Research. A poem I originally wrote for open mic at Pacific University. It highlights my journey with casual sex and the conclusion I came to that sex as recreation, or just for fun, is unable to satisfy us the way we were meant to be satisfied. Sex is good, in it's proper context. This poem mainly focuses though on anyone who has been deeply affected, hurt, and damaged by sexual sin. Forgiveness and mercy are given freely by Jesus.
